How to apply Gel Tips – step by step

Gel Tips are pre-shaped extensions cured in place with Tip Gel – salon length in one evening.

1. Find the right tip size – the edges should line up with your natural nail. File the sides and cuticle area if needed, and note the sizes.
2. File the inside, and clean – roughen the area that sits on the nail, and clean with cleaner (some tips come pre-roughened).
3. Prep – file length and shape, push back the cuticles, buff the surface lightly, clean with cleaner and apply primer (air-dries in 60 sec.). Watch the prep video guide →
4. Base coat – a very thin layer, seal the free edge, and cure the whole hand in the lamp.
5. Apply and fix the tips with Tip Gel (UV-curing) – a small bead of Tip Gel in the centre of the tip – it cures in the UV lamp – press it on at a slight angle from the cuticle outwards so no air gets trapped. Cure with the mini lamp, then fully cure in the large lamp.This product is used in step 5
6. File the tip (if needed) – and roughen the surface, clean with cleaner.
7. Gel Polish colour – two thin coats, cure between coats.
8. Top coat – seal the free edge, and cure.
9. Nail oil – wash your hands and finish with oil at the cuticles and under the nail.
